Sexing a pelt

Somebody's ask me on how to tell their pelt's gender. I've had it asked before.

Something I've put together using Friendly, Larkspur, Snowback and one of my coyotes lol. Sometimes it's easy and obvious to sex a pelt and sometimes not. It depends on how it is skinned. Sometimes it is all cut off. Sometimes just the balls or sometimes they go the whole nine yards and cut all the way around the mid stomach and toss it off.

The males usually have a nugget of thick skin right near the tummy, same area like on your pet male dog. Sometimes it has a darker shade of red then the rest of the stomach like on Friendly's tummy here lol. Cuz they lick it. Sometimes, like on the coyote, they leave all the junk behind including ballsack. I'm not sure if all pelts come with a sheath tube like that one has LOL. Maybe it's cut off sometimes.

On the females it is a slit. It's distinquishable from a knife cut as it has some black skin around the opening. Like the male it can also be a darker reddish color to the fur as well. Sometimes if the wolf has whelped and nursed the stomach will be more bare and nipples noticeable. Sometimes the vulva is cut off like on Snowback, if the lower belly is smooth with no sign of sheath then it is likely female.
Most pelts not cut for taxidermy won't have a butthole in it. The female parts are easy to tell from their butthole as the butt has much less fur lol.
